Surprisingly, Google is about the tackle the world of print newspaper advertising. They announced on Thursday that they will start with buying ad space in some Chicago newspapers and will eventually offer advertisers consolidated ad buys on groups of papers. Considering the relationship between the print and online worlds this is a little like having the devil broker ad space in the church bulletin, but print newspapers are so desperate for revenue right now that they will have a hard time refusing. The service will be called Google Publication Ads and it’s currently in beta.
