Google Base moves in on eBay

Analyst, Derek Brown of Pacific Growth Equities suggests that with the Google Base service, “Google is maybe striking at the heart of eBay by offering a perhaps free venue for individuals to list items for sale??.

MSN joins the Open Content Alliance (which includes rival Yahoo) with MSN Book Search. This Alliance seeks to make digital versions of millions of books accessible to all online.

Google’s service, Google Print (see beta site here), got sued last week by several publishers who didn’t like it when Google started digitizing copyrighted works before getting permission from the copyright holders. MSN has learned that lesson and they will ask copyright holders for permission before they digitize.

MSN Book Search will be available starting next year.
